Get your restaurant off the spreadsheet.
Scheduling, hours, payroll prep, food cost and team communication — one app, built for an independent restaurant.
14-day free trial, no credit card · We can also set your restaurant up with you in a demo
1,847 covers · average check $35.01 · net profit = revenue − food − labour − fixed and variable costs.
Built by someone who's done both jobs. Arthur Leinster — 15+ years in professional kitchens (France, Switzerland, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand — now Executive Sous Chef at a major hotel group in Québec), and a lifelong software builder. Daph answers a real need from the floor, built with the rigour of a real product — not one more spreadsheet. Designed and run in Québec, data hosted in Canada, French-language support.
Eleven metrics, each compared to last month and last year — green when you're under target, red when it drifts. Filter by department or by revenue stream. It's the first thing you see when you open Daph.
Day to day
A restaurant manager does five jobs at once.
And every task lives in its own corner. You re-enter the same numbers two or three times a week, and nothing talks to anything.
One app
In Daph, everything talks.
The shift you schedule becomes the hour your employee confirms, becomes the payroll line your accountant receives, feeds the labour cost on your dashboard. You enter it once.
The product
What Daph does for you, every day.
Build the schedule in ten minutes. A last-minute conflict gets sorted in the app.
Build the week, copy last week, print it. When someone has to drop a shift, coworkers see it on their phone and apply; you decide with one click, and accepting one applicant declines the rest automatically. No more 6 a.m. phone call.
You prep payroll. Your accountant gets a clean file.
Hours get confirmed day by day. At period end, each section closes separately — kitchen, floor, dish — with its own per-employee check. Daph never calculates deductions or taxes: it preps the gross, the breakdown by day and position, and the export.
From inventory to net profit — no second file.
Inventory, invoices, revenue, covers. Daph works out food cost %, prime cost, all the way down to net profit. Compare actual to plan, month by month, and get an alert when a ratio drifts three months running.
Change an ingredient price. The dish re-costs itself.
Every spec sheet carries its cost per portion, its markup and its real food cost. Your cooks pull it up on their phones — without ever seeing the numbers. Clean print for the pass.
The team's logbook, not a text thread.
Messages, closing notes, structured sections — orders, equipment, prep. Read receipts, handover logged between two names. Absences already entered surface on their own. An unresolved urgent message never disappears. Task lists assigned to one or more people, with a due date — and a calendar view to see who has what this week at a glance.
No MAPAQ card expires without you knowing.
Each employee's sheet holds their employment status, contact details and emergency contact, MAPAQ card and work permit with their expiry dates, time off and HR notes. Daph alerts you before every deadline — how many days ahead is set per type, in Advanced settings.
Every revenue stream, month by month — and every employee, in detail.
Productivity, food cost, prime cost, margin: tracked separately for the restaurant, the bar, events. The line goes up or down, and you see right away which one is slipping. And every employee has their own page — hours, cost at the rate in effect, absence rate, HR tracking notes.
And everything that comes with it.
The screens above are the daily grind. Around them, Daph also does:
Automatic alerts
Food cost drifting, a permit about to expire, a shift never confirmed, payroll not closed — Daph warns you before it costs you.
Day-to-day employee tracking
Lateness, absences, HR notes — dated, categorized, with an open/resolved status. Linked to each employee's sheet.
Budgeted headcount (FTE)
How many people per position, planned vs. actual, month by month.
Week-to-date report
This week's revenue and labour, compared to last week and to last year.
Period comparison
Two months side by side, with the gap adjusted for actual volume — not just “you went over.”
Shift templates
Your recurring shifts pre-filled. You stamp them onto the grid.
Per-account permissions
Each manager sees what they need to. Salary access is granted separately from everything else.
Activity log
Who changed what, and when. Useful the moment more than one person runs the place.
Print & export
Everything prints cleanly to A4 and exports to Excel, with no formatting to redo.
Teams to cover
A cafeteria, one morning, one evening: say what must be covered. Planning shows 1/1 or 0/1 and warns you before you publish.
Time off and availability
Your employees request time off and say when they can't work. You approve, and Planning flags the conflicts.
Holidays and premiums
Premium pay on hours worked on a holiday, custom shift premiums, overtime — you set the rules, Daph does the math.
For your team
Your staff get their own app.
No training needed. They install Daph on their phone and see only what concerns them.
- Their schedulePlanned and actual, the current week front and centre, today highlighted.
- Drop or pick up a shiftNo 6 a.m. text to the manager. They apply, the manager decides.
- Recipe sheetsAvailable at the pass, on their phone — without ever seeing costs or prices.
- Time off and availabilityThey request time off and follow the answer, and say when they can't work. You see it all in Planning.
- Their scheduleClosing notes, read receipts, the handover. Nothing gets lost between services.
- A notificationWhen the schedule is published, or a shift opens up in their section.

Why Daph
Neither a scheduling-only tool, nor an enterprise suite.
Scheduling tools stop at the schedule. Big suites do everything — at chain prices and chain complexity. Daph covers an independent's day to day, at an independent's scale.

Frequently asked
What we get asked most.
Does Daph run my payroll?
It preps it: gross pay per employee, the breakdown by day and position, overtime, and the export for your payroll system or your accountant. Daph does not calculate deductions or taxes — that's your payroll system's job. Each section (kitchen, floor, dish…) closes separately, with its own per-employee check.
How long to get started?
A wizard guides you through setting up your structure: departments, positions, employees. Budget an evening to be up and running. We can also do it together on a demo.
What if I have more than one location?
Each location has its own space. Today it's one account per location — write to us, we'll help with a multi-site setup and adjust pricing.
Do I own my data? What if Daph shuts down?
Your data is yours. Three safety nets: a full one-click export anytime (standard format), an automatic daily backup, and a password-protected encrypted copy emailed to you every week (the password is sent separately). Even in the worst case, you walk away with your whole restaurant. Real deletion on request, in the spirit of Law 25.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The app installs to the home screen, and your employees get a notification when the schedule is published or a shift opens up. The manager keeps the full view on desktop or tablet.
Does it connect to my POS?
Not yet. You enter your revenue and covers (day by day, or in batches to catch up). It's the deliberate trade-off of a simple, low-priced tool — POS integration will come if enough customers ask for it.
Who's behind Daph?
Arthur Leinster, a chef for 15+ years — France, Switzerland, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and now in Québec as Executive Sous Chef at a major hotel group. Trained in hospitality and restaurant management, and a lifelong software builder. Daph grew out of his own day to day: schedules, shift grids, food cost, supplier negotiation. The product moves fast and your feedback matters.
Is it reliable? You're a small team.
Yes. Every change passes an automated test suite before it goes live, and error tracking is continuous. Your data is backed up every day, with a password-protected encrypted copy emailed to you weekly — you never depend on us alone.
